Tromox chooses Türkiye for its first factory outside China

Tromox is establishing its first production facility outside China in the Nazilli district of Aydın, with mass production set to begin in 2026. The company is entering electric motorcycle manufacturing in Türkiye with its M05 model, aiming to reach export-level localization in a short time. In Türkiye’s rapidly growing electric motorcycle market, Tromox targets 10,000 sales in its first year.

Chinese electric motorcycle manufacturer Hangzhou Tromox Technology Co. LTD. is preparing to launch production in Nazilli. The brand, which has partnered with Görgülü Tromox Elektrikli Araçlar A.Ş, the distributor of Tromox in Türkiye and Canada, plans to roll its first products off the line in January 2026.

Yağız Türkbey Görgülü, Co-Founder and Chairman of Görgülü Tromox, expressed satisfaction with Tromox’s decision to establish its first production activity outside China in Türkiye, noting that the Nazilli plant will become a key base for the brand’s regional operations.

Production begins in january

Görgülü stated that they will first produce the M05 model, which can be used with B and A1 license types, and that the product range will expand within the next 1.5 years, reaching the localization rate required for exports. He added:

“Tromox has already been present in the Turkish market since 2022. Due to government economic policies and the introduction of certain import restrictions, we decided to move forward with our initial plan to produce in Türkiye. As a result, Tromox will now operate in Türkiye with a manufacturer identity.”

Görgülü noted that all certification and accreditation processes compliant with international standards have been completed and all necessary permits obtained. He stated that production will start in January and continued:

“In the first phase, we will carry out mass production in cooperation with DSIGN Endüstriyel Reklam A.Ş, which already manufactures motorcycles in a 10,000 m² indoor facility in Nazilli. Nazilli has a highly skilled workforce in motorcycle production and is logistically advantageous, located centrally among Türkiye’s highest motorcycle-selling provinces — Bodrum, Muğla, İzmir, Aydın, Manisa, and the broader Aegean Region.”

Localization to increase over time

Görgülü emphasized their goal of producing Tromox models — manufactured in China and sold worldwide — with zero defects in Türkiye. He explained that the motorcycle’s high-strength steel chassis will be produced locally:

“In the first stage, critical components such as the battery and motor will come from China. Over time, we will increase the localization rate. İzmir and the Aegean Region have a highly developed supplier ecosystem, and we will gradually integrate it into the process. We will quickly reach a localization level suitable for exports.”

First phase: one model

Highlighting that the fully electric M05 can be used with B and A1 licenses, Görgülü added:

“A high-grade lithium-ion battery will be used in the motorcycle. Most electric motorcycles on the market run on gel batteries, which limits their range and performance. The M05’s battery, with 1,500 cycle durability, retains 80% of its capacity even after five years, ensuring long service life.”

He noted that Tromox already has an authorized service network across Türkiye’s seven regions and plans to expand both service and dealer networks with the new investment.

Local production plan for electric cross bikes

Görgülü pointed out the global rise of electric cross motorcycles:

“Last year, we brought the first street-legal electric cross bike to Türkiye. But due to import restrictions, we currently cannot import them. Our advantage now is starting production. In the medium term, we will be the first to manufacture this segment domestically in Türkiye.”

Electric motorcycle market share reaches 30%

Görgülü recalled that 1.2 million motorcycles were registered in Türkiye in 2023, adding:

“Over the past three years, the number of motorcycles registered in Türkiye is higher than the total of the previous 30 years. We surpass all European countries — an extraordinary picture.”

He explained that import restrictions introduced at the end of 2024 have driven the sector toward local production:

“Producing in Türkiye became the only way to sell — and it was the right decision. We have a strong supplier industry and the capacity to serve this market. Tromox was impressed by Türkiye’s manufacturing power; they saw a much greater potential than expected.”

He noted that electric motorcycles accounted for 17% of all new registrations last year, and according to TÜİK, this rate rose to 30% in the first eight months of 2024.

Görgülü continued:

“By year-end, sales of electric motorcycles are expected to reach 270,000–300,000 units. Tromox aims to capture 10% of a segment of around 100,000 units.”

Stating that their goal for the first year is 10,000 unit sales, Görgülü emphasized that they aim for long-lasting, trouble-free use of their products, adding that the company will expand its model range and move toward exports.

Target export markets include Turkic Republics, the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.
