One of the leading agricultural economies in Europe with the largest production of fresh fruits and vegetables in volume on the continent, Turkey has a developed agri-food industry that is very successful in exports.

Acclaimed by major international brands, the Turkish food industry has developed and diversified considerably since the 2000s, to master the most advanced transformation processes in the sector.



A consumer of imported agricultural products intended for processing, the agri-food industry has a large export surplus of USD 5.7 billion in 2021 for USD 22.9 billion in exports. In 2020, the agri-food industry represented a turnover of 54 billion USD.

The sector is also benefiting from a strong local demand which is constantly changing due to young and more aware Turkish consumers, looking for quality and innovative products.

This new connected generation also offers many doors to large retailers, whose market was valued at USD 70.1 billion in 2021.
