Chinese manufacturer Goldwind localizes blade production in Izmir

Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Goldwind is preparing to localize wind turbine blade production in Türkiye through its partnership with Dere Construction. The investment, planned to start production in 2027, is expected to create over 500 jobs and contribute to Türkiye’s energy transition goals.
Following Nordex and Dongfang Electric, the Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Goldwind is also preparing to produce blades in İzmir. Present in Türkiye since 2016, Goldwind has signed a cooperation agreement with Dere Construction.
Alper Kalaycı, Head of Localization and Supply Chain at the company, stated that this investment aims to localize blade production in Türkiye, ensure compliance with local-content requirements of YEKA projects, and strengthen supply chain security. He announced that production would begin in 2027 and that the factory would employ over 500 people.
Kalaycı emphasized that the investment would directly contribute to Türkiye’s 2035 energy transition targets and represents an important step in Goldwind’s long-term strategy to localize its renewable energy supply chain.
Kalaycı also highlighted that Goldwind continues to implement extensive localization plans for key components such as towers, generators, and blades:
“Goldwind Türkiye has been steadily expanding its operations across the country since 2016. 88% of Goldwind Türkiye employees are local, demonstrating a high level of workforce localization. Goldwind has commissioned 400 MW of wind farms and has an additional 420 MW currently under construction. The company also operates a comprehensive service network for the turbines commissioned in Türkiye, with service centers in Afyon, Balıkesir, and Yozgat. Reliable support is provided through remote monitoring and spare parts supply” he said.
Kalaycı concluded by underlining that Goldwind continues to invest in technology, localization, and strong partnerships to accelerate Türkiye’s energy transition, and that the new blade factory aims to build a stronger local supply chain while delivering lasting contributions to the local economy.
