The Silver Economy formed based on the needs of older individuals and opportunities resulting from aging, is growing worldwide. 

Considered as the youngest population of Europe, Türkiye is facing a fast growth of its elderly  population (aged over 65) resulting in opportunities of investments in goods as well as services produced by many different sectors such as information technologies, telecommunications, finance, transportation, energy, tourism, maintenance services and infrastructure.

Within the scope of the silver economy, policies such as creating a sustainable environment for elderly individuals, employment of individuals over the age of 50, lifelong learning and preventive health services can be addressed from a holistic perspective. 

In addition, the promotion of new technologies such as smart homes, driverless cars, and care robots reduces the cost of aging and improves the quality of life of the elderly, while contributing to growth in the economy as a whole through a multiplier effect. The relevant ministry in Türkiye has proposed supporting lifelong learning opportunities to support the independent ageing of the elderly, improving their digital skills and organizing activities to increase intergenerational solidarity.
