UK based Colt launched a 2nd PoP in Istanbul

Colt Technology Services (Colt), the global digital infrastructure company, today the expansion of its network in Istanbul, Türkiye, to meet growing demand for infrastructure capacity supporting businesses’ AI and digital transformation plans. Colt’s high‑performance infrastructure now connects to two established data centres in the city - one on Istanbul’s Asian side and the other on its European side - providing businesses with high‑capacity services built for AI‑driven workloads.

Prior to the expansion, Colt operated a single Point of Presence (PoP) in Istanbul. The addition of a second PoP, combined with an upgrade of Colt’s network capabilities in the city, significantly enhances resilience and reach. This expansion enables both local and international customers to access a broader portfolio of next-generation, scalable networking solutions, designed to support the growing demands of cloud adoption, data-intensive workloads and AI-driven applications, for which high bandwidth and secure, flexible connectivity are critical.

Colt is already an authorised electronic communications provider with an established presence in Istanbul, and this expansion further strengthens its regional footprint. It reinforces Colt’s ability to support large enterprises, wholesale and carrier customers, as well as hyperscalers and neoscalers investing in this fast‑growing market. Customers benefit from highly scalable, high‑performance connectivity, including Colt’s Optical, Packet Ethernet and Enterprise IP services delivering reliable, secure network capabilities at speeds of up to 100 Gbps to support AI ambitions, mission‑critical applications and large‑scale digital transformation initiatives.

One of the world’s largest metropolises, Istanbul is Türkiye’s leading financial and commercial hub. As one of the very few cities in the world that physically spans two continents, it is a natural interconnection point between Europe, Asia, the Middle East and parts of Africa. For Colt’s customers and partners, its digital infrastructure in the region:

  • Creates alternative east-west and north-south routes, providing direct connectivity in central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, central Asia and the Caucasus and parts of North Africa
  • Reduces reliance on a small number of traditional Western European hubs
  • Improves redundancy and failover for global customers
  • Delivers more resilient global connectivity and lower risk
  • Allows for shorter, more direct data paths between regions
  • Ensures fewer network hops compared with routing traffic via Western Europe alone‍

Joe Scattareggia, EVP –Infrastructure and Connectivity Sales, Colt Technology Services said:

“Demand for high-capacity, low-latency infrastructure in Türkiye and its surrounding regions is rising fast, driven by factors such as AI workloads, cloud adoption and digital transformation. Deepening our loca presence in Istanbul means we can serve enterprise customers in‑country, meet data-residency, performance and resilience requirements, and support hyperscalers and neoscalers expanding into the region. It’s an exciting part of our continued investment in building exceptional infrastructure that powers the global AI economy.”
