Franklin Electric inaugurates a new factory in Izmir

One of the global leaders in the submersible pump and motor industry, Franklin Electric, has inaugurated its new production facility in Torbalı, İzmir, developed through a €5 million investment.

Franklin Electric officially opened its new factory in Torbalı, İzmir. Built on a 14,600 m² site, the new facility will not only increase the company’s production capacity, but also strengthen its regional logistics capabilities and operational efficiency.

The facility stands out for its environmentally friendly design, advanced manufacturing technologies, and sustainability-oriented structure. It is also expected to contribute to employment and generate long-term value for the regional economy.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Torbalı Chamber of Commerce President Abdulvahap Olgun, DİSK Birleşik Metal-İş Union President Özkan Atar, Franklin Electric Global Operations Board Chairman Brent Spikes, Franklin Electric EMEA Sales Group Chairman Fevzi Apaydın, Franklin Electric EMEA Manufacturing Operations Director Görkem Aydonat, company employees, and numerous guests.

During the opening ceremony, Franklin Electric EMEA Sales Group Chairman Fevzi Apaydın stated: “Founded in the United States in 1944, Franklin Electric initially began operations as a motor manufacturer and has since become a global leader in water systems, energy, and industrial solutions, particularly in submersible pumps and motors.”

“We aim to make Türkiye a regional hub”

“As Franklin Electric, we serve a broad geography through our global manufacturing facilities and sales organization. Türkiye is among our strategically important markets. Through our investments, we aim both to increase our production power and to position Türkiye as a regional hub. We approach our operations with a long-term perspective, seeking to add value to the local market while also contributing to our global growth objectives.”

Apaydın noted that Franklin Electric’s operations in Türkiye were significantly strengthened following the integration of İMPO Motor Pompa into the group in 2011. He added that with İMPO becoming fully integrated into Franklin Electric in 2018, the company continued forward with a stronger organizational structure and more ambitious goals.

He continued: “With our two factories in Torbalı, İzmir, our expert workforce of 400 employees, strong R&D capabilities, and advanced manufacturing infrastructure, we export to more than 50 countries and create value on a global scale. Supported by Franklin Electric’s engineering expertise and global know-how, this structure enables both continuous product quality improvement and the development of innovative solutions.”

Franklin Electric EMEA Manufacturing Operations Director Görkem Aydonat also commented: “Today, we are celebrating not only the opening of a new facility, but also the beginning of a new era shaped by growth, innovation, and strong partnerships.”

He explained that the foundations of this growth journey were laid in 1969 by İMPO Motor Pompa in İzmir. Initially focused on meeting agricultural irrigation needs in Western Anatolia, the company gradually specialized in submersible motor and pump technologies while continuously expanding its product portfolio.

Today, the company manufactures more than 350 types of submersible pumps ranging from 4 to 10 inches, as well as submersible motors from 0.5 HP to 250 HP, making it one of the most comprehensive manufacturers in the sector in Türkiye.

“We continue to grow by investing in the future”

Following İMPO Motor Pompa’s integration into Franklin Electric in 2018, the company accelerated its global integration process, further strengthening its production capacity, engineering capabilities, and international competitiveness.

“At this stage, we are not only maintaining our current capacity, but also continuing our growth by investing in the future,” said Aydonat.

He also emphasized that quality and R&D investments have been among the key drivers of İMPO’s growth, reinforcing the brand’s image as a “reliable domestic manufacturer” and enabling it to become a preferred brand both in Türkiye and abroad.

About İMPO Motor Pompa

Founded in İzmir in 1969, İMPO Motor Pompa initially focused on agricultural services in Western Anatolia and has since become one of Türkiye’s leading manufacturers in the submersible motor and pump industry.

İMPO manufactures rewindable submersible motors, cast iron, noril and stainless-steel submersible pumps, booster systems, centrifugal pumps, and drainage pumps serving various industries.

Operating from a 30,000 m² production facility in İzmir with 400 employees and a strong manufacturing infrastructure, the company exports to more than 50 countries while continuously increasing its domestic market share.

Since its establishment, İMPO has continuously invested in quality and R&D to improve existing products and develop new solutions. Thanks to its accumulated expertise and strong reputation as a “trusted brand,” the company attracted the attention of major global industry players.

As a result, Franklin Electric became the main shareholder of the company in 2011 and became its sole shareholder in 2018.

Today, İMPO aims for excellence across all product groups through high-quality standards, a broad product portfolio, an extensive sales network, and fast delivery capabilities, while providing customers with cost-efficient and sustainable solutions.
