Despite a demanding global context marked by complex geopolitical challenges and an inflationary environment under pressure, Türkiye continues to demonstrate strong resilience. The country recorded solid year-on-year growth of 2.3%, maintaining its positive momentum following a 2.5% expansion in the first quarter. On a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP grew by 1.1% (compared to +0.1% in Q1). Meanwhile, calendar-adjusted GDP rose by 2.3% year-on-year.
Sectoral Performance Trends
Agriculture was the top-performing sector with a growth rate of +13.3%, representing a sharp acceleration compared to the +4.6% recorded in Q1.
The performance across other key economic activities is as follows:
- Information and communication: +8.6%
- Public administration, education, human health, and social work activities: +4.0%
- Taxes on products net of subsidies: +3.3%
- Other service activities: +3.2%
- Industry: +2.4% (a notable rebound following a -0.8% contraction in Q1)
- Financial and insurance activities: +2.1%
- Real estate activities: +2.1%
- Professional, administrative, and support service activities: +2.0%
- Wholesale and retail trade, transportation, accommodation, and food service activities: +0.5%
Conversely, the construction sector registered a decline of 1.9% (following +3.2% growth in Q1).
Current Values and USD Share
In current prices, the GDP estimate by the production approach increased by 36.0% year-on-year in Q2 2026, reaching TRY 19,869.7 billion.
Expressed in US dollars at current prices, GDP reached a new milestone of USD 438.3 billion for the period (up from USD 389.6 billion in Q1).
Consumption and Foreign Trade
Final consumption expenditure of resident households increased by 3.5% in chained volume terms, reflecting sustained consumption, albeit at a slightly slower pace compared to 4.8% in the previous quarter.
The contraction in foreign trade continues. Exports of goods and services fell by 3.4% year-on-year (a less severe decline than the -12.7% drop in Q1), while imports recorded a 6.4% decline.
Compensation of Employees and Value-Added Distribution
Compensation of employees rose by 36.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, while net operating surplus / mixed income increased by 38.7%. Within Gross Value Added at current prices, income distribution remained notably stable year-on-year:
The share allocated to labor compensation stood at 38.1% (compared to 38.3% in Q2 of the previous year).
The share of net operating surplus / mixed income came in at 41.6% (compared to 41.3% in Q2 of the previous year).
