FMCG industry : Turkish giant Sanipak goes international

The Eczacıbaşı Group has signed an agreement to sell its subsidiary Sanipak to Arch Peninsula Sdn Bhd for a total value of $600 million.

The transaction remains subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities, including the Competition Authority, in the countries concerned. This strategic move reflects Eczacıbaşı’s dynamic portfolio management approach while aiming to significantly strengthen the global footprint of Sanipak’s brands.

Through this transaction, Eczacıbaşı takes a further step in optimizing its portfolio, while unlocking new global growth opportunities for Sanipak. Already a market leader in tissue and hygiene products in Türkiye, the company is now positioned to accelerate its international expansion.

Commenting on the agreement, Burak Sevilengül, CEO of Eczacıbaşı Group, highlighted the company’s long-standing legacy in personal hygiene, dating back to 1969 under the İpek Kağıt brand. He emphasized that the Group has not only built some of Türkiye’s most iconic brands but has also played a key role in transforming hygiene habits across the country. According to him, this agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sanipak, supported by a strong international partner capable of fully leveraging its global potential. It will enable Sanipak’s brands—originating from Türkiye—to expand more powerfully into international markets and reach millions of new households. He also noted that the deal will serve as a catalyst for evaluating new investment opportunities for the Group.

For his part, Bülent Kozlu, CEO of Sanipak, underlined the strong synergy potential of the transaction. He stated that Arch Peninsula’s global manufacturing strength and vertical integration capabilities, combined with Sanipak’s leading brands and operational infrastructure, would create significant value. He also reaffirmed the company’s ongoing commitment to contributing to Türkiye’s economy through local production, employment, exports, and continued investments.

Nishant Grover, Co-Chair of the Global Consumer Board of the investment group, expressed satisfaction with adding Sanipak—one of the leading tissue producers in Türkiye and Morocco—to their growing portfolio. He noted that the acquisition aligns with their strategy of investing in market-leading brands with strong local positions. Leveraging their global scale, operational expertise, and advanced supply chain capabilities, the group expects to generate significant synergies and create value, while contributing to trade and economic growth in both host and investor countries.
