Trouw Nutrition launches construction of a new factory in Ankara

Global animal nutrition specialist Trouw Nutrition has laid the foundation stone for a major new investment in Türkiye. Construction has begun on the new production facility in the Ankara Polatlı Organized Industrial Zone, which will double Trouw Nutrition Türkiye’s current production capacity. Scheduled to become operational in the first half of 2027, the factory has been designed in line with ‘zero emissions’ and ‘zero waste’ targets.

Operating under the Nutreco umbrella, Trouw Nutrition has taken a significant step toward zero-emission production in Polatlı OSB with its upcoming investment in Türkiye. With its high-tech infrastructure and strong focus on sustainability, the new facility is expected to position Türkiye as a regional hub for feed additive production. Once completed and commissioned, the plant is projected to double Trouw Nutrition Türkiye’s production capacity.

Commenting on the investment decision, Trouw Nutrition Türkiye Country Manager Gonca Altıntaş highlighted the strategic location of Polatlı OSB, stating, “This location will allow us to ensure fast and sustainable access both across Türkiye and to markets in Central Asia and the Caucasus.” Altıntaş also emphasized that the facility will operate with full automation, enhancing product homogeneity and overall efficiency.

Noting that the new factory will generate its own energy, Altıntaş said the goal is to eliminate the use of fossil fuels such as natural gas and diesel. She added that with fully automated production lines designed at Industry 4.0 level and a cloud-based MES system, production processes will be monitored and optimized in real time.

Trouw Nutrition CEO Eduardo Alberto, meanwhile, said the company aims to contribute to the future of food production by combining global expertise with local partnerships.
