IMCD opens a new technical center in Türkiye

IMCD Group, a global leading partner for the distribution and formulation of speciality chemicals and ingredients, has officially opened its new Technical Centre in Istanbul, Türkiye. Designed as a strategic hub, the Centre delivers formulation development, optimisation of existing commercial products, technical consultancy, and hands-on support for customers’ innovation pipelines.

The IMCD Türkiye Technical Centre, opened in Ataşehir, Istanbul, consolidates the food & nutrition, beauty & personal care, and coatings & construction laboratories - previously operating from separate locations - into a single, expanded facility with enhanced scope and technical equipment. In addition, a pharmaceuticals laboratory has been established within the Centre for the first time, further strengthening its technical and innovation capabilities.

The Centre adds to IMCD's global network of more than 80 technical centres and laboratories, reinforcing the Company’s commitment to innovation and local customer support.

The new Pharmaceuticals Technical Centre acts as regional centre serving the local market, in addition to the Middle East, Maghreb, Egypt, Kenya, and South Africa. The laboratory enables faster, closer, technical collaboration by combining IMCD’s global expertise with deep local insight. Development work is conducted across solid, liquid, and semi-solid dosage forms and includes active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and formulation support, allowing customers to progress more complex development projects with confidence. All development activities are conducted using a risk-based approach in line with internationally accepted guidelines. Analytical method development, a critical component of the product development process, follows Quality by Design (QbD) principles to ensure robustness and reproducibility.

The Beauty & Personal Care Laboratory and Beauty Studio bring together formulation, creativity and collaboration on the same ground for the development of colours, skin care, sunscreens, hair care and personal hygiene solutions. The Beauty Studio goes beyond the traditional laboratory approach and allows brands to go through an interactive experience that focuses on ideation and co-creation together with IMCD experts. Brands can take part in developing multifunctional and market-ready products and formulations that incorporate critical elements such as texture, sensory experience, performance and manufacturability from the project start, thereby accelerating the journey from concept to development.

The Food & Nutrition Applications Laboratory combines global trend insights with technical expertise to support manufacturers in developing innovative food and beverage solutions. Serving key segments including dairy, bakery, beverages, confectionery, and meat & savoury applications, the laboratory focuses on optimising taste, texture, nutritional value, and functionality. The facility provides formulation development, pilot trials, ingredient optimisation, and ready-to-use prototype concepts.

Coatings & Construction Laboratory - The laboratory offers technical and formulation support for decorative, industrial, protective paints, wood and floor coverings, as well as ceramic adhesives, self-levelling screeds and exterior thermal insulation systems. Bringing together different areas of expertise under one roof, the laboratory allows formulation development, performance tests and applied verifications handled in a way that matches end-use conditions.

Aylin Zakuto, Managing Director of IMCD Türkiye, comments: "The chemical industry in Türkiye is one of the sectors with growth potential with its geographical advantage and qualified workforce. As an organisation that has been serving Türkiye for 21 years, we have a strong presence and an expert team of more than 100 people who keep the pulse of the market to better support our many local customers. Our Centre will be a chemical technology hub where customers will be able to accelerate product selection and formulation and attend technical training and seminars, leveraging IMCD’s global and local expertise to seize every local market opportunity. This is how we provide solutions to support our customers from concept to market."
